Berk Communications, recently named a finalist for 2020 Outstanding Small Agency of the Year by PRWeek, has an exciting opportunity for an Account Executive in our Travel & Lifestyle practice. We are seeking someone with relevant agency experience across the travel & lifestyle category including hotel brands, tourism boards, and restaurants. This role will require creative ideation, attention to detail, great writing skills, and a proven track record of generating consistent and high-impact earned media coverage in both traditional and non-traditional media outlets.

Primary Responsibilities 

  1. Proactive media relations – pitching traditional and online media, developing relationships, and uncovering new outlets  
  2. Drafting press materials 
  3. Creating and updating media reports  
  4. Maintaining updated grids with deadlines  
  5. Staying current with new media trends and incorporating as appropriate 
  6. Serve as a key day-to-day client contact 
  7. Experience with press trips and managing media on-site 
  8. Manage multiple projects from concept to completion on time and within budget 
  9. Proactively generate new ideas and opportunities to ensure client program success 
  10. Maintain relationships with media and secure pro-active publicity for clients 
  11. Manage the development of press materials 
  12. Moderate media interviews; assist with media training for clients; initiate implementation of media events such as press conferences, briefings, and media tours 
  13. Instruct entry-level staff in the areas of media relations and writing/document creation 

 Education and Experience Requirements

  1. 2-4 years of public relations experience (agency experience preferred) 
  2. Strong media relations skills and an established network of contacts 
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  4. Can work independently and within a team
