Basic Purpose
Travel Counselor/Guides work with the public at Travel Information Centers. They provide information and assistance concerning the services provided by the agency. Responsibilities may include operating various types of telephone or communications equipment; serving as a cashier; and similar activities.

Education And Experience
Department preference for someone with prior customer service experience and has demonstrated excellent related skills including the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing and establish relationships with all types of customers.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Competencies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of methods and procedures concerning public contact and of telephone procedures. Skill is required to operate various office equipment including computers. Ability is required to work with customers; to gather data and facts; to keep records; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
