Position Information

Under General Supervision of the Financial Services Supervisor, serve as primary Travel Coordinator for a large academic department. Primary responsibilities include: independently prepare travel vouchers, travel-related purchase orders and entertainment reimbursements for Faculty, Academics, Students and Department Visitors. Coordinate all essential components of colloquium and departmental events. Provide front-office assistance in the Executive Administrative Offices and independently serve as the Receiver of all department purchases. The department of Physics & Astronomy supports 44 faculty and includes 203 non-senate academics, postdocs, graduate students, and administrative staff; $20.8 million dollars per year in expenditures and $10M in extramural funding administered over 148 discreet fund sources. The full salary range for the Travel Coordinator is $29.35 - $42.06 per hour. However, the expected pay for this position is up to $30.00 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and fund accounting and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to compose business correspondence, edit, and use correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.
  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, using tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrates skills using PC software applications such as Excel, Word, and Access and the ability to use standard office equipment such as keyboard, calculator, fax, copier, scanner, etc. Demonstrated experience in accessing and retrieving data from financial systems using PC and web based applications and tools.
  • Ability to work as a team-player and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; promote professional demeanor in a diverse cultural environment.
  • Demonstrates strong time management, organization skills and accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail. Ability to function independently and take responsibility for results; organize workload with close to attention to detail; manage multiple tasks and timelines with limited supervision and frequent interruptions.

  • Working knowledge of UC Travel and Entertainment policies and procedures.
