I started out my travel agent journey with another agency. I knew I needed more from my Host, but didn't know where to start. I looked at Host Agency Reviews and narrowed down my options to 3. After interviewing them all, I decided on Nexion and it was the best decision I have ever made. The first time I logged in to the Nexion agent site, I knew I was where I wanted to be. The tools they provide their agents are everything you could want to be successful in your business and more. The trainings--both online and in-person, are some of the best I've been to in any industry. I've made wonderful connections with many other agents also with Nexion, and can say without a doubt, the people who work with Nexion and FOR Nexion, are some of the best anywhere. I highly recommend Nexion to anyone looking for a Host.
In mid June 2012, I left my job with a worldwide travel company to take care of an elderly parent and I was going to retire from travel after 22 yrs. A few months later after many calls from clients I decided to go "back to work". I did my homework and found NEXION to be the best fit for me. The technical support, the educational opportunities, the supplier benefits, and the concern for the individual agent to succeed are amazing!! I never feel out there on my own and many times I have called the support staff and started my sentence with "this might be a crazy question"... I was even shocked to be awarded one of the Top 40 Agents in US and Canada for 2015!! I now have a new young hire with me who will be availing herself of the host's agency's knowledge, etc. She is doing quite well, proving that agents are indeed necessary for the traveling public. I could not be more happy with Nexion and would like to thank everyone associated with NEXION for helping me become the success that I could not even imagine was possible.
I have been with Nexion over 9 years now and I like:
1. Excellent support. Nexion has always been quick to get back to me whenever I have had questions.
2. Good training. The Nexion annual conference is one of the best I've been to, with good supplier representation, training, and networking with other Nexion agents. Frequent webinars and other programs are part of the training. I've recommended Nexion to a number of new agents looking for a host due to the strength of their education program.
3. Large but personal. Nexion is a large host agency but the leadership is very accessible. It has the feel of a smaller host agency with the resources of a large host.
4. Good commissions and prompt payment. Nexion has excellent commission levels with many preferred suppliers. I primarily sell cruises and I appreciate the good commissions and prompt payments.
5. They stay in the background. You can call your agency what you want (you don't have to put nexion on your business card). This allows you to promote YOUR agency and not the host's.
The corporate culture of Nexion is something I have not seen ever. I was a Nexion agent over 6 months. Technically, they provide what every other host agency does, but they have one thing which is unique: they could not care less when a problem arises. The SNAP desk is their issuing desk. You pay a fee of every booking so you have them as support for questions or problems. After booking 15+ reservations for flights (and still learning their system) I call the desk and the person - Gabriel - answers in the worst manner I have seen in a long time. I asked for the usual lady that helps hoping to get the same good service as she always gives and he refused - "you have to deal with me". I did, and then as it usually happens with this kind of people I had to be unpleasant for him to be nice. I then sent and email to customer service to let them know he was quite rude on the phone and I was afraid to call in case he picked up the phone! He (Gabriel) proceeds to CALL ME ON MY CELL PHONE to tell me "I am calling to know why you sent that email?". At that point, I am so appalled I sent another email to the same customer service email they provide explaining this situation, which in my eyes is unacceptable. I have never in my life had an employee from a service provider call me to ask why I said something bad about him! (but then again very few times do I need to complain about service in general). His boss, Paul calls to tell me "did I get what I wanted in the end?". I think "oh dear" the fish stinks from the head. Then I send a last email explaining this is just wrong, and to please instruct me on how to cancel my account after my last client travels in May. Within a few minutes their Vice President - Robbi Hamida sends an email saying they believe I should find another agency and they went ahead and deactivated my account WITHOUT WARNING, without giving me the time to wrap up my clients. All I got was a list of names. They deactivated this as if I was a thief, because I raised a complain about bad service? Wow. I am not angry, I am impressed at the fact that a company can act this way nowadays. Never, in my 20+ years in the industry have I come across such a childish and unprofessional, mediocre company. Save your $99 "promotional" affiliation fee (no wonder that is all it costs to join them, I should have known - cheap is what you get). As a piece of advice, you cannot provide good service to your clients if the person who is helping you give that service has no idea of what professional is. The corporate culture is very institutionalized in this sad company. Save yourself a bad moment, these people could not care less. They have no class, no professionalism and no idea how to provide service.
Monica is certainly entitled to her opinion. At Nexion, we look at feedback, both good and bad, and see what we can learn from it. That is how we continue to grow and help more and more agents operate successful businesses.
I can truly say that I am very proud of my team. They are great at what they do, which is to support our network of independent agents. They strive to work with them and not against them. From time to time there will be differing opinions, as there are in all businesses.

Jumping back into the Travel Industry in 2007 after a 12 year absence, I had no idea what Host Agency was but kept hearing it was the way to go. After a bit of research, I decided to take a chance on Nexion and I've had no regrets. The staff can answer any question or find the answer. The online training as well as training at headquarters and conferences are done with excellence. They partner with amazing suppliers and have such a good reputation industry-wide, I know I have no reason to ever look elsewhere. They care about each agent and I've always felt valued. I have been with Nexion for about 1 1/2 years and have been very pleased. I had been in the industry for almost 2 years before I joined Nexion. I love their on line training and even though I haven't attended Boot Camp, Agent Essentials or Co-Nexion, I do plan to in the near future. Any time I have contacted member services with a question, they get back to me very quickly. I have recommended Nexion to others, and will continue to do so. They have great suppliers and the commissions are higher than many host agencies I looked into. I love the fact that there is no pressure to sell a certain amount. I do what works best for me! Nexion is an awesome host agency and I can't imagine working with anyone else.
I had been in the corporate world for 20+ years, I finally decided I had enough and needed a career change. Being a former flight attendant reinventing myself as a travel agent was a good fit. After doing extensive research, Nexion was exactly what I was looking for and I joined in 2012.
Starting without any travel agent experience Nexion offered what I needed, with very little out of pocket cost compared to what the other host agencies required.
Another plus, is their strong relationships with suppliers. Meeting other agents not with Nexion, I found out Nexion agents are sometimes paid higher commissions.
What else makes Nexion great is the employees, especially Jackie Freedman, President, & Kim Sherret, Dir of Business Development. They have created an environment that makes you feel like you are part of a family. The Member Service team is also quick respond.
It's a great place to be and I personally could not be happier!
I joined Nexion in 2012 after listening to a podcast about how to "earn while you learn." I was not a travel agent, nor had I any experience in the travel industry, other than going on a destination wedding that got me thinking about it. I was just in the beginning research phase, wondering if it could even be done.
After listening to the podcast I contacted Nexion and signed up for the Power Up program. Wendy Graziano was very kind and helped me get started. Soon after that I attended boot camp training to get a jump start.
Nexion and their membership with the consortia Vacation.com has been huge in my start up success. There are many tools available that helped me to show a professional image to my contacts from the very beginning.
Their preferred relationship with suppliers has given me access to many tools at a discounted cost, CLIA membership, NACTA membership, my website, my CRM, Travel 42 and others. Also the relationship with vendors is invaluable (top commission brackets and strong support.) Recently the most exciting thing has been their social media tool. I love it, it saves me so much time.
Owning and operating your own business can be very overwhelming. You wear a lot of hats. With Nexion, I don't have to be all things, I have people for that!
