Just need to give a shout out to KHM Travel Group! I started with them over 5 years ago, and had no previous travel agent training except planning my own trips! I jumped right in with Boot Camp, then Destination Success, attending webinars that were hosted by KHM along with getting to know other travel agents within the orgainization...I have made an extended "family" that I didn't know I could ever have! That has been one of the biggest blessings to me! So many great agents that I can reach out to and get some assistance when needed!
Last year, during the loss of so many bucket list trips for my clients, KHM was there all along helping each of us with our unique situations! And even offered a very extensive 12 week training to keep us engaged and learning during such an trying season to be a travel agent!
The moment I met the owner, Rick Zimmerman, I knew that God had led me to the right Host Agency..He is a Godly man with his leadership of this company and has surrounded himself with incredibly educated and engaging staff who go above and beyond to make sure we are successful! I have been with KHM for two years. I am a former high school teacher and college instructor. I chose to pursue this field because of my complete love of travel. I worked at a brick and mortar agency and researched several host agencies, and actually visited KHM before I made a decision to join. Every time I have called KHM I have been greeted by helpful and friendly associates! When I was new at this, every time I would call with a question or concern they were so encouraging and supportive! I love the KHM agent only Facebook page. Agents are so willing to help each other and I can always find someone knowledgable on a location or topic I am unsure about. I have attended several Destination Success workshops as well as a Master's weekend. I have made so many wonderful friends at these events. Looking forward to the Crystal Cruise and many years with KHM.
I joined KHM back in July 2015. I had zero experience booking travel except for my own. I had no idea where to start, so I started researching to find the right fit for me. I spent weeks going through host agencies and kept coming back to KHM. So i signed up. From day 1 until today, I have had nothing but complete support from KHM and other KHM agents. I have grown my business tremendously and looking forward to the next milestones in my business!
Very disappointed.....after being with KHM for six months, I got a "New Agent Welcome Email/ Package", which was funny as hell because I had been to their Destination Success two months prior. As for the training...unless you were an experienced agent in travel for at least a few years prior to joining, most of what you may grasp in Destination Success will go over your head. I felt robbed, overwhelmed and the two days felt like being in high school- Many of the speakers only spoke to the agents they recognized- including the KHM staff. There was hardly, if any, networking with newer agents; I was fortunate to meet two agents that I remained friends with to this day, but whenever I called in to the "Agent Helpdesk" for assistance, I was always lucky to meet the most impatient people on the other side of the line. I completed the New Agent training and submitted my contact information ( with my business email address) and I still receive emails from the initial email address that I used to request information PRIOR to signing up. It's almost as if my money was taken and to hell with what the paperwork I submitted actually reported- just as long as the payment cleared my bank account. A year later when the renewal date approached, was the only time I was even acknowledged- when the payment couldn't be retrieved. No one from KHM ever sent an email to check to see if I was still active, or even interested in renewing or even curious as to why I was inactive; When asked to be contacted about my concerns prior to renewing - no one took the time to investigate. I specified the times that I could be contacted- even gave my email address just in case calling was too inconvenient for them to do- as I was so nicely told by the billing department, that has to deal with "thousands of agents". So my summary is, while KHM may have "thousands of agents" who sign up and are successful members, this is not the agency for beginners who do not have a nest egg (retirees) or a partner who has a full time job. You will almost never get someone on the phone or via chat and when you do, you will almost always find someone who expects you to "know everything"... not someone who actually cares which stage of the travel business you are in at the present time.
If you can do well in rushed, crowded training session and would be comfortable being pushed to the back of the room and have to hope that you can be called on to ask a question over the "loud mouth- more experienced agents" all congregated to the front of the room- well go right on and pony up your $495 a year. Even some of the suppliers were rude in exceeded their presentation time, causing other suppliers to either cancel, or rush through their presentations- quite indicative of how you will feel when you call on the phone to speak with someone. Good Luck getting your commissions after you leave.... no one answers the phone then either!

As for the Welcome email you received, during the timeframe of implementing a new email management system, an error was made which resulted in agents receiving a duplicate email. Our records indicate that you attended Destination Success in October 2015. No supplier presentations were cancelled at this event; however, we apologize for any presentations that may have gone over the estimated completion time. At these events, our goal is to provide both new and more experienced agents with essential knowledge in a limited amount of time. All of our speakers share their contact information in hopes that agents will follow up with questions that may not be addressed due to time constraints.
The majority of the agents we bring onboard are similar to you in being newer to the industry. It is for this reason that we focus heavily on educating and providing support to new agents. This includes an in-depth education program, weekly webinars, informative guides and other resources, and even a New Agent Boot Camp event designed especially for those who are just starting out. We encourage all new agents to take advantage of these and several other opportunities.
As for your experience with receiving support, we always strive to provide the best service to each of our agents. After reviewing your record, we noticed that our Agent Support team reached out to you by phone and email on multiple occasions. Our support team is available by phone, email, and live chat during our normal business hours, as follows: Monday-Thursday: 9am to 11pm EST / Friday: 9am to 5pm EST / Saturday: 10am to 2pm EST. Hi, it's my second year with KHM
I started it right after Christmas 2014, new year, new life, new commitment.
I was totally new for the industry, except 10 years in sales I knew nothing about Travel.
So I would say what you should pay attention to when you are choosing a host agency if you are a newbie.
1. Make sure they have enough people to help you
by that I mean you can call and talk to them any time you need them, not just leave your message on the voice mail for couple days
2. See what's included in the fees that you have to pay. Yes, KHM will charge you every month but for that you will get tons of perks including 90 to 10 split of the commission after decent gross sales, not like 200K and insurance that you might need as swell
3. make sure you get the support - lots of education, FAMs, Seminars at Sea, Boot camps in the office and so on
4. Great commission because of the volume they do
5. payments in time twice a month, some hosts pay you only once a month, and yes, it does make a difference

I have read the reviews with interest. I have been with KHM for almost three years and in that time my business has grown exponentially.
I think in some cases the expectations I am reading here are somewhat unrealistic.
If you are getting started and looking for an MLM type "Business Kit" then you will be disappointed. This isn't a magical "open a box and you are a travel agent" thing. This also isn't some get rich quick scheme...it is work, so be ready for that.
If you really want to build and develop a mark and have something that is your own then this is a great place. They don't coddle you and kiss your butt...but they don't get in your way either. If you are willing to work HARD, develop client relationships, and learn your destinations then you will do well.
KHM has very knowledgeable people and great relationships with suppliers, which will help you a lot once you get rolling. In any relationship there are ups and downs, but if you listen and pay attention you will get the right answer...even if you don't know it at the time.
Our company is OUR company...and we are almost big enough to open a storefront agency now.
We started with a $50.00 in a business checking account, some Vistaprint Business cards, and a contract with KHM. Three years later we are a thriving travel company that is about to diversify.
We have KHM to thank for that.
I have been with KHM going into my 4th year. I have received unlimited support from them when needed. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Commissions are paid in timely manner and I absolutely love the New CRM they created for us. My business has grown beyond my expectations. Other KHM Agents have been very supportive as well. If you are thinking of becoming a Travel Agent, KHM is a great host and will provide you with training and support. NOT MLM, they are a real and true host agency.

I started with KHM in March of 2015 with very little experience. I had made my own travel arrangements in the past and had worked for a cruise line. That's where I saw that there WERE still a LOT of travel agents making bookings every day, all day!
I went immediately to two of their multi-day trainings to make sure I had my head on straight. They fed us, trained us, and gave us advice on how to get started, keep liabilities low with good risk management procedures, and more! I met with suppliers, and got started. Just over a year later, I hit a rather large sales goal and well on my way to becoming full time as an agent.
I chose KHM because I had gotten calls from agents while working for a cruise line, so I knew which ones had NO idea what they were doing. BE CAREFUL if you're looking for free, you'll get what you pay for sometimes. KHM had a VERY reasonable cost to start my business, and they provide IMMENSE levels of training and opportunities to grow your business.

I joined KHM with Zero Vacation Travel Professional Experience. All I had going for me was a Love for Travel & many years experience as Travel Nurse. Planning Vacation Travel for friends & family was always enjoyable. When I decided to take the leap into a career that would take me into retirement, I endured the frustration of not getting the satisfaction of what I was looking for in a Host Agency. Thankfully I didn't have to kiss too many frogs before I found KHM. I knew what I wanted & when I was referred by a fellow KHM Travel Agent, I knew this was it ! KHM Staff have the patience of a Saint. No question is too dumb if you don't get it the 1st time. They are like Family, they walk you thru the process & is there for you every step of the way. I still have a lot to learn. In the short time I have been with KHM, I have booked 3 Large Cruises.... Eastern Caribbean, Alaska & Cuba.
