Introduction:
Mindseeker is looking for a Travel Coordinator to join the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and serve as a member of the travel team, providing technical guidance to the staff concerning official travel, foreign. and domestic.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the day-to-day operations of the Travel Branch are customer service oriented. The work consists of special projects actions involving overseas travel of personnel on a periodic basis, these cases having a high priority for expedited action, as well as other invitational and travel for special groups.
- Serves as back-up to the Contracting Officers Technical Representative (COTR) for travel-related contracts. Participates in complex management studies and reviews--particularly those with wide or significant effect upon MCC's travel policy, processes, and operations.
- Provides guidance to the MCC staff concerning international and domestic travel entitlements on the most difficult and complex cases, which requires a thorough knowledge of MCC and federal travel regulations, policies, and guidelines, as well as international travel and locations.
- Assists, or leads, in the presentation of travel training sessions, including, but not limited to, training on the eTravel system, and serves as backup to the Travel Manager and travel coordinator in conducting travel training sessions. Reviews, edits, approves, and serves as a point of contact for all eTravel issues.
- Coordinates overseas travel of federal and contractor personnel on a periodic basis, these cases having a high priority for expedited action, as well as other invitational and other special groups travel. Develops travel itineraries and provides assistance in developing schedules, routes, modes of travel, and any specific special requirements in support of the TDY mission. Assists in developing itineraries that are within the travelers funding allotment.
- Serves as the approver for travel actions submitted by individuals traveling on behalf of the Agency; completes reviews and audits travel orders to ensure travel mode and entitlements are proper and accurately reflecting travelers itineraries; audits travel orders to ensure they are in compliance with regulatory guidance, reflect appropriate accounting citations, funding allotments, and budget clearances; and serves as point of contact for travel-related internal and external audits and inquiries from public and private sectors;
- Generates standardized weekly, monthly, annual, and quarterly reports as well as ad hoc reports as requested. Works with accounting personnel on monthly reconciliation of the travel records and the CBA used for airfare purchases.
- Serves as coordinator providing technical and critical information regarding travel issues and passport/visa processing requirements in foreign countries; reviews and analyzes documents and regulations to determine applicant qualifications, in order to process visa and passport applications; conducts reviews of visa requirements/changes issued by embassies; and maintains liaison with the Department of State in order to secure passports, visas, diplomatic status, and current country information.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience coordinating domestic and international travel in support of a government agency.
- Knowledge of the laws, policies, and regulations associated with Federal travel sufficient to manage and administer a comprehensive travel program a plus.
- Ability to interpret and apply guidance to a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard travel support assignments to resolve a wide range of problems.
- Knowledge of automated travel functions and the associated interrelationship to other functions.
- Experience creating detailed reports using Sabre, E2, and Microsoft Office products a plus.
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed in an office setting on-site in Washington, DC.
