At the advisor level, women power the industry—81% of hosted travel advisors identified as women in 2024 (HAR) and 80% of travel agencies are female-owned small businesses according to ASTA.

However, a significant leadership gap remains. Only 22% of HAR's highlighted hosts are women-owned. Male independent advisors were more likely to have independent contractors and/or employees (opposed to solo agencies) compared to women (71% vs. 60%).
