‘Reunited and it feels so good!’ was the theme for our recent annual conference (or family reunion, as we like to say) in Phoenix, AZ. It’d been a while since we were able to be together and we wasted no time catching up. Our evening welcome reception was amazing!
Day 1 during our General Session, we were greeted by industry greats such as Pam Sigler, Business Development Manager with Hilton International, Zane Kerby, President & CEO with American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), and Charles Sylvia, Vice President of Industry & Trade Relations for Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). Our keynote speaker, Jill Shiefelbein – The Dynamic Communicator – absolutely blew us away with her incredible insight into improving business communications and understanding the psychology of how consumers make travel decisions.
We recognized our newest MentorU graduates, our top advisors, and several of our beloved supplier partners for their outstanding efforts in 2020 and 2021. The afternoon continued with round table discussions where agents were able to network with supplier BDM’s, explain their business needs, and learn how best to connect when help is needed.
We ended the day with Supplier Dine Arounds. Groups of advisors were hosted by our Platinum and Gold sponsors at some of Phoenix’s best local restaurants. Lots of fun memories were made while we reconnected in person after 2 long years.
Day 2 was all about education! Multiple supplier sessions presented various tech tools, booking portals, new products, procedures, and promotions. Our peer sessions focused on exciting topics such as legal considerations for small businesses, group travel, social media strategy, and service & planning fees. It was a shot in the arm for our brand-new advisors who came looking for inspiration. The trade show was a huge success! Not only were some amazing prizes awarded (including free cruises!), but advisors had the opportunity to mingle with 54 major sponsors, learn about their products, and make personal connections.
The grand finale was our Prom Night Gala event. Attendees dressed in their best prom attire, respective of the year they attended their high school proms! We dined, we danced, we posed for “new” prom pics, and laughed harder than we have in quite some time.
The take-away from this incredible 2-day event was how much we missed one another, how much we rely on each other, and how much we mean to one another. We survived the pandemic, and though things might look different for some of us, we’re grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing, resilient industry. Can’t wait to do it all again next year!
