Description

JOB TITLE : Medicaid Travel Coordinator

Department: Clinical Services

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Performs a wide range of administrative duties to include patient registration, verification of insurance eligibility, communication with referral sources in order to ensure patient appointments, travel arrangements, lodging, transportation and other logistical aspects of the patient’s medical travel are completed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for obtaining authorization for local travel (ground transportation), air travel (AK, WA, OR, UT).
  • Responsible for providing patient with MDCD approved accommodations, if authorized to stay overnight in Anchorage.
  • Responsible for obtaining certification of medical necessity for each visit outside of the plan of care to cover services.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with other members of the team/department, as well as outside agencies/offices to ensure travel is handled in a timely manner.

PAY RANGE : $20-23/hr to start (dependent upon experience)

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Some college experience with medical terminology, CMA preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum: One-year experience in a healthcare environment.

Preferred: Three years’ experience in a healthcare environment working with Medicaid Travel.
