I joined WD a year and a half ago, and after being with a giant host company with over 500 agents being with a small friendly personable host is a wonderful change. The support and supplier options are fantastic. Nothing but good things with this agency!
I have now been given the chance as well to become part of the support team.
I was with this host agency for over a year, with many frustrations and disappointments .The training program that is advertised as top of the line and one on one is not at all what I expected. There are no recorded webinars or training sessions you can refer to as a resource. All training is through one person and there is no set times for training, often training session times are changed or cancelled. There is also no set curriculum, so often you feel like you are jumping around from one topic to another without getting what you need.
There is no consistency in processes and procedures. You are directed to do something one way then that direction will change any number of times. Basically, you have access to one person and you are expected to do as she would do, with very little assistance if you need to do something differently. If there are any issues with suppliers, etc. you will most likely be told that they don’t know what to do as they have never had that problem before??? or its your problem. And unless you continually push for something to be resolved it will be ignored. As with any company, or business dealings I suggest you have a good paper trail of emails and so on as its always good to be able to refer back to previous conversations and decisions.
I was told regularly that I was expected to add an additional fee to all my transactions which in some geographical areas where there is lots of competition and lower incomes this is not feasible.
I left WD World travel a couple of months ago and have moved to Nexion Canada and from my first day with them I felt like this is what I was looking for from the start. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Wish this was where I went the first time. Would have cost me less and everything you need is at your finger tips. Hundreds of pre recorded (professional) training sessions where you are walked through a complete process, and can refer to them any time. Live training every day that you can be part of. A knowledgeable support team where you can get good solid answers. I now have access to far more suppliers which lets me be competitive in the market. Things are starting to come together and I am excited about what I am doing again.
I am assuming I will probably get negative feedback from WD on this review, but if you have any questions I would be glad to respond to them.

Started this host company. Nothing was set up or organized. They would continue making their own rules up as they go even though we had a contract. I sold consistently and had a good clientele list. However, I was called one day out of the blue and told that I was not allowed to provide competitive pricing with other competitors. She even told me that if it was between discounting a good customer $10 or losing the sale… lose the sale or write them a cheque out of your account…really?. My contract indicates that I am self employed and am not an employee of WD World Travel. I left the company thinking that I wasted 500.00. If you want full independence and flexibility – stay away from this place – It was impossible to get support same day. The only awesome agent there is Sarah.
-------- Update 7/16/2014: --------
Hi there, I posted the initial review about WD World Travel and wanted to also mention that not all was doom and gloom. I can mention three positive points about this company, and BTW canadatravels.com was never involved in the hosting part for Consultants so any feed back given does not include their online part of the company:
Positives:
1. Your invoicing and accounting is done for you. No extra charge. You book, and they will invoice and maintain the booking;
2. No monthly service fees. The price you pay each year is it;
3. Commission rates are high – higher than most. I was receiving 80%.
4. Commission payments are paid using direct deposit and always paid on time.
Ok that’s it. Any other questions, refer to my previous post.
Thanks.
Jay
We are truly sorry that you did not enjoy your experience with us. While we encourage and assist independent contractors to maximize their earnings, we also work very hard in maintaining good standing relationships with our suppliers so that WD World Travel and independent contractors can enjoy the benefits of a good relationship. As previously explained, tour operators strictly forbid discounting and unfortunately this was a business practice that you were not prepared to adhere to.
We believe that independent contractors should not be working for next to nothing in compensation but should be earning fairly for their valuable knowledge and time.
We do take pride on the access, training and support that we provide to our independent contractors.
thank you for your feedback and we do wish you success in your future endeavours.
