I got my start in the business with Coral Sands Travel back in 2004. Peter Stilphen was extremely helpful and patient with me as a newcomer. I really had no complaints. I had seen some ads for another (now out of business) host agency that had no fees at all and had signed up for it. I made a couple of test bookings to see how it would work, as there is nothing that says you can't have more than 1 host agency. When Peter found out I was doing that, he chose not to extend my renewal beyond the end of the second year. I don't have any hard feelings about that, as there was nothing saying that he had to continue a host relationship with me either. It was just a little weird for him to admit that he was not renewing me because of the other arrangement.

I have been with "World Cruising Society" [division of Coral Sands Travel] for about 4 years. Absolutely every commission I ever had coming to me I had to fight for - on more than one occasion. There's always an excuse. And in most every case, I had to ask more than once where my commission was. Most recently, it took 2 months to get a $100 commission from a single booking from December and 2 months to get a commission from a group. AND, I had to hound him for it. I did finally get it. Still waiting for a commission from a year ago that I've asked for THREE or FOUR TIMES. Now the word is, it's on my account to be paid.

I am tired of fighting for my commission. No more. I quit. Do not go with this agency. Find someone else.

Host Agency Response

It is now July 31st and I have not yet received the commission I have been requesting. Here is a reply I just got from Peter Stilphen:

"I have nothing posted to your account. Please give me the details again and I will definitely check it out." Unbelievable.

Like the previous comment from Mr Edwards, Peter Stealphen has not paid me for a group cruise booking which sailed in February of 2012. He has also refused to pay me for a cruise booking made in October of 2012 and he won't give me a reason for his refusal to pay.

He has tried to impose conditions on agents that are not part of his independent agent contract. These arbitrary conditions allows him to keep your hard earned commissions. Don't be fooled by the arbitration of disputes clause in his contract. It is not a voluntary process, you have to file suit against him in Florida to get him to arbitrate. He won't voluntarily arbitrate because he knows he'll lose.He knows you won't pay an attorney $2000.00 to collect a $900.00 commission.

Not once did he pay me on time... Sign up with this guy if you like working for nothing. He also operates under the name of the World Cruising Society.
I'll be filing a complaint with the Florida Attorney Generals Office.

Peter Stilphen has not paid me the commission on a recent group cruise. He owes me $1396.00.
The commission should have been paid in November 2012.

Host Agency Response

Hello Steve,
I just came across your comments. I really don't remember why I didn't renew your contract. I have had many agents do more than one host agency over the years. I've followed your career over the years and have seen many of your comments on various subjects. Please keep up the good work.

Peter
