Now’s Your Moment to Move #FiercelyForward

January 13, 2020

Fulfilling your dream as a travel agency owner is hard. The road to entrepreneurship isn’t as clear cut as one would hope either. Along the way, there’s disappointments, frustrations, and a lot of challenges. But the worst are the naysayers - those that doubt your chance at success. (I know, I’ve dealt with a few in my career.) But despite all of this, you have to move forward to keep your momentum going. And not just moving, you have to fiercely move forward. It’s a establishing a commitment to focus on your business. Not only does it need all of your attention, but all of your strength to keep moving #FiercelyForward.

So what does #FiercelyForward even mean? First, let’s breakdown the word “fiercely”. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, “fiercely” means very strong or “in a frightening or powerful way”. It’s a very aggressive word but that’s what you need to be in order to find success as a travel agency owner. It’s not enough to simply react to the ups and downs of running a small business. To move fiercely means you’re charging forward, every day, with every bit of power, ambition and strength you can muster up. It means really going for it and not letting anything or anyone stop you from achieving your version of success. If this scares you, it should. While it takes a great amount of courage and bravery to run your own business, it’s not about being fearless. It’s about taking your internal fear and discomfort and using it as fuel to aggressively, powerfully, frighteningly, and fiercely move forward.

We first introduced our #FiercelyForward campaign to travel advisors at last year’s CruiseWorld. (Definitely resonated well with them, if I say so myself.) At CruiseWorld, we gave away hundreds of #FiercelyForward branded bracelets. They weren’t just your average conference swag, we gave them away so people had a physical daily, weekly, or monthly reminder of the commitment they wanted to make. For some, it was returning every phone call, others it was pursuing new learning opportunities but for all, it was to keep scaling their business #FiercelyForward. We all need that reminder. Take a moment to reflect and figure out what your reminder is. Perhaps it’s your first commission check, or your first “we decided to go with Costco” breakup email, or even this article. Once you find it, keep it close, and let it fuel your fire.

Surprise: 2020 is here. It’s not only the start of a new year, but of a new decade. This is your moment to jump start your business. Don’t let this become another clichéd (read: failed) New Year’s Resolution. This is beginning of your new life as a travel agency owner. This is your first step to moving #FiercelyForward.
