Mid-Year Business Check-In: The Questions Every Travel Advisor Should Ask

Last updatedJune 30, 2026

It’s hard to believe we’re already at the midpoint of the year. For many travel advisors, the first half of the year has been filled with client inquiries, bookings, departures, and all the moving parts that come with running a successful business. When you're focused on serving clients, it’s easy to keep moving from one task to the next without taking time to evaluate the bigger picture.

That’s why the middle of the year presents a valuable opportunity. Before the pace picks up even further, consider setting aside some time to assess where your business stands today, and where you want it to go next.

One of the most important questions you can ask is simple: What’s working? Which marketing efforts are generating leads? Which supplier partnerships are producing the strongest results? Which client relationships are leading to repeat business and referrals? Understanding what is driving your success allows you to invest your time and energy more strategically.

Equally important is asking: Where are my opportunities for growth? Perhaps there is a destination, niche, or product category you have been meaning to explore. Maybe there are tools, training programs, or marketing resources you haven't fully utilized. Identifying these opportunities now can help position your business for a stronger second half of the year. For more opportunities for growth visit www.nexion.com

It’s also worth considering the composition of your client base. Are you attracting the types of clients you most enjoy working with? The most successful advisors often have a clear understanding of their ideal customer and intentionally build their business around those relationships. Mid-year is a good time to evaluate whether your current efforts are supporting that vision.

Finally, look ahead. What do you want your business to look like six months from now? The decisions you make today will shape the opportunities available to you later this year and beyond. This is especially true as more travelers begin planning farther ahead, with many already considering major trips for 2027 and even 2028.

A mid-year business review doesn't need to be complicated. Sometimes the most valuable insights come from asking a few thoughtful questions and being honest about the answers. By taking stock of your progress now, you can enter the second half of the year with greater clarity, purpose, and confidence in the path ahead.
