Nexion Provides Exclusive Business Travel Agent-Focused Events

Last updatedJune 13, 2016

The invitation-only events focused on providing firsthand experience and relationship-building opportunities specifically for corporate travel agents.

Irving, TX (June 13, 2016)—Today, Nexion®, the travel industry’s premier host travel agency, announced the completion of a business travel focused familiarization (FAM) trip and its second year of Corporate CoNexions. The exclusive programs provide Nexion’s corporate-focused travel agents with unparalleled access to resources and “behind-the-scenes” opportunities to help them grow their businesses. The FAM trip was held in April in London, England, and the second annual Corporate CoNexions recently concluded in Atlanta, Georgia – and included Nexion’s top-performing corporate travel agents who book international and domestic travel.

“We wanted to deliver opportunities for agents who handle a considerable amount of business travel both domestically and abroad,” said Nexion President Jackie Friedman, CTC, CTIE. “Nexion has so much to offer experienced corporate agents, from our online booking and reporting tools, to our close relationships with suppliers. Corporate travel-focused FAM trips and Corporate CoNexions provide Nexion travel agents with more than just educational opportunities – they provide a chance to experience travel as their corporate clients do, in addition to networking with suppliers and other agents who specialize in business travel.”

“Our mission was to provide our participants with three opportunities: a chance to tour the destination, a way to personally experience the product to better assist their corporate clients and networking to forge even stronger relationships. This trip, thanks to our fantastic partners and wonderful Nexion agents, was a resounding success."

The international, corporate travel-focused FAM trip was hosted by United Airlines and Edwardian Hotels in London, England, from April 7-11. The invitation-only event featured United BusinessFirst travel for seven of Nexion’s top, international, corporate travel agents from Newark Liberty International Airport to London’s Heathrow Airport. Agents received access to the United Club at Newark as well as a walking tour of the United Airlines terminal. Participants enjoyed accommodations at The May Fair Hotel in London, and increased their knowledge of hotels catering to business travelers with site inspections of the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street Hotel and the Radisson Blu Edwardian Mercer Street Hotel.

During the London FAM trip, agents also:

  • Enjoyed a guided walking tour showcasing the highlights of London
  • Rode the famous London Eye
  • Received a London Pass to explore the city on their own
  • Were treated to the VIP traveler area of Heathrow
  • Toured the Queen’s Terminal (which is less than two years old), the United Club and received access to the United First Class Lounge

“It is very common for international business travelers to spend time experiencing their destination, in addition to attending to business, so we wanted to make certain our Nexion travel agents had the ability to do that, as well,” stated Nexion Vice President Robbi Hamida, CTA. “Our mission was to provide our participants with three opportunities: a chance to tour the destination, a way to personally experience the product to better assist their corporate clients and networking to forge even stronger relationships. This trip, thanks to our fantastic partners and wonderful Nexion agents, was a resounding success.”

The second annual Corporate CoNexions was hosted by Delta Air Lines from June 10-12 in Atlanta, Georgia, for 38 of Nexion’s top business travel agents. One of the highlights included the opportunity to fly a Delta plane in the airline’s flight simulator. The Atlanta Corporate CoNexions also featured:

  • An in-depth tour of Delta’s in-flight training center to experience firsthand how Delta manages in-flight emergencies
  • A tour of Delta’s flagship Sky Club, including the Delta Sky Deck, which puts travelers right above the taxiway
  • Specific training on topics such as government and legal issues, customer care and utilizing technology
  • An exclusive, intimate cocktail reception and informal trade show where Nexion’s corporate travel agents could network with specific supplier partners in a relaxed setting.

“Business travel FAM trips and Corporate CoNexions provide opportunities that most business-focused travel agents never receive, and the feedback has been incredibly positive,” added Hamida. “We are already planning more for our corporate agents including a Corporate CoNexions event next year—June 9-11, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois, which will be hosted by United Airlines.
