KHM Travel Group Expands Commitment to Supporting Diversity

December 20, 2022

KHM Travel Group is continuing its commitment to building a culture that respects and embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). In early 2023, the company will appoint a group of travel agent members with personal and professional experience in various aspects of DE&I to its new Advisory Committee. This committee will serve as advisors to KHM Travel Group's corporate team, as they move forward with more thoroughly integrated DE&I strategies in 2023 and beyond.

In addition to establishing this new committee, KHM Travel Group has also developed the following new initiatives:

  1. Monthly DE&I Newsletter – Originally started as a way for the committee to communicate updates, this monthly newsletter is now sent to all KHM Travel Group Agents. This allows the newsletter to include more features, enriched content, and reach a larger audience.
  2. “Expanding the Lens” – KHM Travel Group’s weekly, live talk show KHM Today now broadcasts a monthly segment dedicated to DE&I-related topics. So far, segments have discussed LGBTQ+ travel, accessible travel, and even more specific topics like sobriety and recovery while traveling.
  3. DE&I Minute – As part of KHM Travel Group's ongoing, internal DE&I training, the "DE&I Minute" has been introduced into monthly company meetings. During this portion of the meeting, team members share inclusive language, resources, and information about current DE&I topics to all corporate team members.
  4. DE&I Resource Guide – In early 2023, KHM Travel Group will be launching a DE&I Resource Guide for agents to access inside MyTravelAgentPortal. This guide will include resources like professional organizations, certifications, supplier marketing resources, and internal marketing resources, as well as helpful links and suggestions to meet clients' unique needs.

As a host agency, KHM Travel Group knows that being thoughtful about DE&I can have a major impact on small businesses, especially with client relationships. Marketing to a diverse client base allows for deeper connections with existing clients and attracting new business to take independent agents to the next level.
