Day of Giving: Nexion Donates $15,000 to Local Food Bank
Nexion®, which is headquartered in Irving, TX, is proud to announce that its employees recently raised over $14,600 and more than 1,500 pounds of food. The donations will benefit the nutritional needs of children, families and seniors in 13 counties throughout North Texas represented by the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas, TX – as well as supporting local food banks throughout Canada. In addition to the physical and monetary donations, Nexion employees and members participated in a variety of volunteer efforts, totaling 84 hours. The philanthropic initiative was part of a larger “Day of Giving” effort in which Nexion joined with other Travel Leaders Group travel agencies and travel agents throughout North America on July 9 in a concentrated effort to reduce hunger. Nexion is the travel industry’s premier host travel agency and is a Travel Leaders Group company.
“Nexion is proud to give back to our local community in North Texas and assist such a worthy organization. Hunger is most prevalent during the summer months, when kids are out of school,” stated Nexion President Jackie Friedman, CTC, CTIE. “Our Nexion team, here, Canada and Uruguay, went above and beyond this year, significantly increasing the amount of contributions across the board. It’s wonderful to see the Nexion family embrace giving back and supporting our local communities to reduce hunger."
Throughout Travel Leaders Group, the concerted Day of Giving efforts collected more than 1,600 bags of food, weighing in at 12,225 pounds – over six tons. In addition to the physical donations, Travel Leaders Group employees also donated their time, tallying 899 volunteer hours by approximately 340 employees and travel agents. The time volunteered with local food banks across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Uruguay is equal to more than 22 work weeks. Travel Leaders Group employees also contributed approximately $70,000 to Feeding America and local food banks.
