Specialty Travel Consultant, Supervisor – Continuing Education (CE)
This position supports the Strategic Travel Manager – Continuing Education (STM-CE) by overseeing daily Continuing Education (CE) Travel Office operations, including supervising, training, mentoring, and coaching Specialty Travel Consultants – CE. The role serves as a trusted business advisor to campus departments and coordinates complex domestic and international group travel, requiring advanced knowledge of CE programs, ISP, and athletic team and individual travel. Under the STM-CE’s direction, the position manages high specialty travel volumes while contributing to and leading process improvement initiatives and travel office projects.
What You’ll Do In This Position
Deployed Travel Office Support
- Coordinate FSY agent training, support CE strategic travel initiatives, and provide after-hours emergency and on-site logistical support
- Lead, mentor, and manage the CE travel team (up to 4 FTEs plus student/junior staff) and direct Specialty Travel Consultants as needed
- Oversee compliant deployed travel operations, including transaction review, corrective action, and policy guidance
- Book and manage complex domestic and international individual, group, VIP, and event travel; negotiate airline, hotel, and ground contracts
- Advise customers on travel authorization and expense tools; prepare and deliver travel presentations and conduct campus visits for performance feedback
Strategic Sourcing & Relationship Management
- Maintain key customer and preferred partner relationships
- Represent BYU Travel at industry events and share insights with the team
Process Improvement & Initiatives
- Participate in process improvement and strategy development
- Lead departmental improvement projects and assist with university focus groups
Required
What qualifies you for this role:
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, travel and tourism, geography, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience
- Minimum four years of professional experience with advanced knowledge of procurement, sourcing strategies, and cost methodologies
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and specialty sourcing expertise
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Proven ability to manage complex issues, high booking volumes, industry technology, and deadlines with accuracy and efficiency
Preferred
- One year of contract and relationship management experience (in addition to required experience)
- Experience with leisure, tour, and group travel bookings
- Experience leading initiatives and ensuring accountability for outcomes

Pay Grade: 53
Typical Starting Pay: $73,000 - $95,000
