BASIC PURPOSE: Process airline tickets for shipboard team members in a timely and cost effective manner, in accordance with existing airline contracts and established travel policies.
Process all inbound and outbound shipboard team member air travel utilizing ships¿ current itineraries, in compliance with established travel policies.
Research routings and fares in conjunction with existing airline contracts and travel policies. Obtain cost effective published rates when contract service is no longer available by using Amadeus fare shopping tools. Secure most economical fares and validate any applicable rules for both domestic and international carriers.
Utilize global registry to observe restrictions on crew immigration requirements.
Verify paper travel request forms to ensure correct account codes are used and proper authorization is received.
Monitor and maintain records to follow-up on status of waitlists, schedule changes, cancellations and emergency travel requests. Monitor changes on reserved ticketed reservations frequently.
Help team members resolve travel related discrepancies which result in long itineraries and increasing costs.
Support other areas of the business, as assigned, to process and ticket travel requests submitted outside of the automated scheduling system. Assist with flight schedules and travel issues.
Perform other job related functions as assigned.
EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Three years of travel agency and/or airline ticket counter experience. Experience with application of international airline tariffs and ticketing.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Extensive working knowledge of Amadeus booking system and marine based contracts and restrictions. Solid global geographical knowledge required to secure world-wide routings while ensuring the best use of available contract fares. Working knowledge of Schengen visa requirements. Experience with Global Max (travel agency accounting) system preferred. Knowledge of or ability to learn MAPS scheduling system. Beginner-level Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel in order to create basic reports and tables. Knowledge of TIMATIC (TIMM) in order to comply with passport and visa requirements. Excellent organizational skills in order to meet multiple established timelines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to effectively interact with shipboard team members at all levels with tact and diplomacy. Ability to research issued tickets and ability to calculate international routings, fare structuring, taxes, and currency conversion. Must work well under pressure to process and ticket last-minute emergency travel. Ability to provide on-call weekend coverage as needed to assist with crew emergencies.
